What exactly is Reiki and how does it work?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen 'life force energy' flows through us. During a session, I gently place my hands on or just above your body to help clear energetic imbalances and restore your natural state of peace.

Is Reiki safe for everyone?

Yes, Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle therapy that is safe for people of all ages and conditions. It works in harmony with all other medical or therapeutic techniques and does not have any contraindications or side effects, making it a wonderful support for your overall wellbeing.

How will I feel during and after my session?

Most people feel a sense of glowing warmth or gentle tingling, while others simply feel very relaxed and clear-headed. After a session, you might feel deeply rested, light, or emotionally refreshed. It is quite common to have a very deep, peaceful sleep the following night as your body continues to integrate the healing.

Can Reiki be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely. Reiki is a complementary therapy, meaning it works alongside conventional medical treatments, counselling, or other holistic practices. It can often help reduce the side effects of medications or enhance the results of coaching by calming the nervous system and opening you up to deeper insights.

Do I need to believe in anything for it to work?

No specific belief system or religion is required for Reiki to be effective. It is a natural energetic process. Many of my clients start as sceptics but find that the physical and emotional relaxation they experience is undeniable and deeply beneficial regardless of their initial views.

The Session Experience

What can I expect in a session?

Whether online or in-person, we start with a brief chat about how you're feeling. During the Reiki, you remain fully clothed while I use gentle touch or hands-off energy work to help your body enter deep relaxation and clear any energetic blocks.

Online vs In-Person

Does Reiki work through a screen?

Absolutely. Energy is not limited by distance. Online sessions are just as impactful as in-person visits, allowing you to relax in the comfort and safety of your own home while we connect virtually for our healing work together.

Time & Frequency

How long are sessions?

A typical session lasts 60 to 90 minutes depending on what we are working on. A single Reiki session will be a 60 minutes with some conversation before and after the session. Coaching with Reiki will usually take longer so we have space to explore your history and goals. While some feel a shift after one visit, a series of 3-6 sessions is often recommended for lasting transformation.

This work is for anyone feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or ready for a deeper level of self-discovery. Whether you're in a high-pressure career or navigating personal life transitions, these sessions provide a non-judgemental space to return to balance.

Booking & Payment

How do I book a session?

You can book directly on my website using the book a session link dotted throughout the site. Simply select your preferred service and time. If you’re unsure which session is right for you, I recommend booking a complimentary 15-minute discovery call first.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me to offer the time to other clients. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will unfortunately be charged at the full rate.

What payment methods do you accept?

Secure payments can be made online via credit or debit card at the time of booking. For in-person sessions, bank transfers are also accepted if arranged in advance. All pricing is transparent with no hidden fees.

What happens if I’m running late?

If you arrive late, we will still need to end the session at the scheduled time to respect the next client, if one is waiting. However, we will make the absolute most of the remaining time available for your healing.

Do you offer discounted session packages?

Yes, healing is often a journey. I offer discounted packages for clients who wish to commit to a block of sessions. These options can be discussed during our initial consultation.

Preparing for your session

What should I wear for a Reiki session?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Reiki is performed fully clothed, and you will typically be lying down, so items like soft trousers or leggings and comfortable tops are ideal.

Should I eat or drink beforehand?

It is best to avoid a heavy meal immediately before your session. A light snack is fine. Ensure you are well-hydrated, and try to avoid caffeine for a couple of hours prior to help your body relax more deeply.

Is there anything I need to bring?

You don't need to bring anything specific. For in-person sessions, all mats, blankets, and pillows are provided. For online sessions, ensure you have a quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed.

How should I prepare mentally?

Try to arrive or log on 5 minutes early to settle your energy. Having an open mind and a simple intention for your session—such as 'to relax' or 'to find clarity'—can be very beneficial.
